Support our application to install roller shutters
Updated!
One year ago, hundreds of our supporters raised over £5000 to see us through the lockdown, and to make the club more accessible and secure by installing roller shutters, but the council have said "NO"! We won't give up without a fight though, but we need your support, we're asking our friends to write a letter of support for our planning application - don't worry, it will only take a few minutes, and there's a link below to fill in all the crucial info for you
But first, here's some arguments for allowing us to install proper shutters to replace our wooden boards:
- Our old wooden shutters are so heavy, only two of our volunteers can actually lift them, which restricts how often we can be open for our community
- Every day we're open we have to clean litter, sh*t and needles from our doorway. Our volunteers work hard, and don't deserve to endure this extra hassle
- We want to keep our community safe, and don't want to provide a dark doorway for anyone to jump out of, or be dragged into
- Our mural is one of the highlights of London Road, just think how amazing it will look bigger and brighter over the whole front!
The council again rejected our revised application, the quantity of support we have been given clearly ticked them off, so we've had to make a fresh application which has a new reference number "BH2022/00749" included in the link below.
If you have already written, please send your supporting message again with the new reference number. We're being deliberately obstructed by beaurocracy, so let's keep the pressure on
Please make sure you include your address, or the council will ignore your letter of support (they're looking for any excuse!)
