Restaurants across Italy have a free feast of pasta every year on the 25th of July to mark the end of fascism and this year we’re celebrating too at the Cowley Club!
Why July 25th? In 1943, the Grand Council of Fascism deposed Mussolini, marking the beginning of the end of the fascist regime in Italy. The news was met with joy across the country. The Italian population, tired of dictatorship, war and starvation, took to the streets to celebrate...
In the town of Campegine, the Cervi family hosted a massive community meal, cooking vast amounts of pasta and sharing it with everyone. This simple powerful gesture became a symbol of solidarity, resistance and hope for a future free from fascism, for a more just and free world.
